Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2010 Alavigna Tosca is proof that the two noble
varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese can
get married and walk down the aisle happily ever after.
To begin with, the wine is handsome with its deep ruby
color. Aromas of black cherry, dark plum and dare I say
Italian herbs and spices are perfectly complemented with
nuances of toasty oak. The palate is unique and delicious -
rich and mouth filling, yet sleek and racy due to the wine’s
bright acidity. The fresh acidity will make this wine an
ideal companion for food, the way Italian wines are meant
to be enjoyed. Think hard cheeses, grilled meats and roast
leg of lamb. You can enjoy this California version of a
“Super-Tuscan” anytime over the next decade.
