2022 Alavigna Tosca - Sangiovese & Cabernet Sauvignon

60% Sangiovese | 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, Coombsville

This wine is medium in weight with bright red fruit notes of cherries, raspberries, vanilla and spice. This wine is fermented separately as the Sangiovese is grown on the Atlas Peak AVA and tends to ripen in late September. It is aged in 100% twice filled French Oak barrels. Then Cabernet is added to it in small increments at our blending sessions. We as a team liked to have the Sangiovese shine through, while the Cabernet gives the wine concentration and depth. This wine is approachable in its youth but also can age like Cabernet Sauvignon.
