Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
What I love most about Ackerman Family Vineyards Cabernet is the wine’s remarkable ability to adroitly reflect the nature of the vintage as well as it’s more moderate-climate Napa Valley terroir. Witness the 2006 Ackerman Cabernet Sauvignon, which superbly displays the concentration, structure and age-worthiness of the vintage. The wine’s deep, nearly opaque color is supported by aromas and flavors of ripe dark berry, sweet plum, dark currants and cedar. The palate offers beautifully ripened fruit, a firm yet not too tannic backbone, with a rich and extremely long flavorful finish. This tension between ripeness and structure is a hallmark of the 2006 vintage and Ackerman’s vineyard in the hills east of the town of Napa, situated in the cooler southern part of the valley. This wine’s lovely fruit, fine balance and great structure will allow it to age gracefully for 10 to 15 years. -- Peter Marks, MW
